Jesus' message in Luke 9:57–62 Jesus teaches that discipleship is not a casual decision but a lifelong commitment that requires us to count the cost before we follow Him. Many are attracted to Jesus when it is convenient, but true discipleship demands that we surrender our comfort, lay aside our excuses, and place Him above every competing priority. While following Christ may require sacrifice, the reward of knowing Him and participating in His kingdom is far greater than anything we give up. The question this passage leaves us with is not whether Jesus is worth following, but whether we are willing to follow Him with wholehearted devotion.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. We grieve the cost of that sacrifice, and we thank God for their courage.
