In Isaiah 42:18-20 God calls His people to recognize their spiritual condition. Although Israel was chosen to be His servant, they had become spiritually blind and deaf. They had God's truth, witnessed His faithfulness, and were entrusted with His message, yet they failed to see, listen, and obey.

This is a warning against spiritual complacency. It's possible to be surrounded by God's Word and still miss what He is saying if our hearts are not attentive. God desires His people to have eyes that truly see and ears that truly hear, responding in faith and obedience.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. We grieve the cost of that sacrifice, and we thank God for their courage.
